A site dedicated to keeping you informed about all of the happenings with the UHSPAC. The Union High School Performing Arts Company is one of the strongest arts training programs in the state of New Jersey. The UHSPAC is inclusive of an award winning theatre department, a nationally rated instrumental music program, and a top notch choral music group.
The Theater Department has received many nominations and awards in the Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star awards, a yearly competition that recognizes excellence in Musical Theater throughout the state of New Jersey. They currently hold the record for the most awards ever won by a show for their 2015 production of Duke Ellington's Sophisticated Ladies; winning nine awards in one evening. Awards received over the years include: Best Overall Musical (2x); Best Direction (2x); Best Musical Direction; Best Choreography (2x); Best Chorus (2x); Best Orchestra (4x); Best Scenery (6x); Best Lighting (3x); Best Graphic Design (3x); Best Leading Actress (4x); Best Supporting Actor (2x) & Actress; Best Hair and Make-up Design; and Best Ensemble Group (2x).
The Union High School Marching Band and Color Guard is recognized on the local, regional, and national level. In 2014, the band won both the state and national competitions in their category. Other awards include: National best visual 2015; Color Guard named regional and state champions 2014 & 2015. In 2012 the marching band won the Yamaha Cup at MetLife Statdium. In spring 2008, the marching band and color guard competed in the Anaheim California Heritage Festival. Both the color guard and the marching band were awarded first place with superior ratings. Performing groups were also awarded the Festival Sweepstakes Championship Award.
The Swing Choir has won annual nationwide competitions for the past fifteen consecutive years with 1st place - Gold-Superior ratings. Swing Choir placed in the top 5% throughout the United States and Canada and has performed in both Disneyland and Disney World.
